Newly elected Local Council One (LC1) and Local Council Two (LC2) chairpersons in Kihihi Town Council have officially assumed office after taking their oaths of allegiance and receiving official office stamps during a swearing-in ceremony held at Kihihi Town Council Hall.
The ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Town Clerk and attended by Kihihi Town Council Mayor Hon. Tumwesigye Rogers, Deputy RDC Hon. Dr. Gad Rugaju, the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kihihi Town Council, local leaders, and members of the community.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Deputy Town Clerk congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to serve their communities with integrity, transparency, and commitment.
“The people have entrusted you with leadership at the grassroots level. Let your decisions be guided by fairness, accountability, and a desire to improve the lives of those you represent,” he said.
Mayor Hon. Tumwesigye Rogers challenged the leaders to prioritize service delivery and maintain close contact with residents.
“Leadership is not about holding a title; it is about solving the everyday challenges of our people. I encourage you to be accessible, listen to your communities, and work closely with the town council to drive development,” the mayor said.
Deputy RDC Hon. Dr. Gad Rugaju emphasized the importance of unity and lawful leadership, noting that local councils remain the first point of contact between government and citizens.
“LC leaders play a critical role in maintaining peace, resolving community disputes, and mobilizing citizens for government programs. Let your tenure be defined by honesty, patriotism, and service above self,” Dr. Rugaju remarked.
He further called upon the leaders to uphold the rule of law and work collaboratively with security agencies to ensure peace and stability across Kihihi Town Council.
The newly sworn-in leaders also received official office stamps, marking the beginning of their mandate to serve residents in their respective villages and parishes.
