Medius Asimwe, the wife of the late Dr. Dismus Rwebishegye and a former deputy mayor of Jinja Municipality died in a road accident along Masaka Road on Saturday morning.
Asimwe was travelling to Rukungiri to attend a visitation of her daughter at Immaculate Heart when the accident occurred.
News of her death emerged on Saturday morning, prompting an outpouring of grief from people who remembered her as a remarkable woman.
Asimwe Medius previously served in Jinja’s municipal leadership, where she was involved in local government affairs. Her public service adds to the legacy being remembered by those who knew her.
Asimwe was originally from Bugongi in Kanungu District, where she is expected to be laid to rest.
According to the funeral programme, an official vigil will be held in Jinja on Sunday, October 25. On Monday morning, October 26, the funeral procession will leave Jinja for Bugongi, Kanungu District, ahead of her burial on Tuesday, October 27.
