Kanungu Deputy LC5 Chairperson Completes Strategic Foresight Program in Rwanda

Deputy LC5 Chairperson for Kanungu District Hon. Rukundo Joshua has completed a strategic foresight and anticipatory governance program at African School of Governance in Kigali, Rwanda.

Rukundo completed the course, “Leading Through Strategic Foresight Using Anticipatory Governance,” alongside leaders and executives from several African countries, including Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Botswana, Burundi, Tanzania and Tunisia.

The program focused on helping leaders develop long-term approaches to planning, budgeting and addressing emerging challenges facing African countries.

According to Rukundo, the training provided insights into issues including food security and food systems, wars and conflicts, and population growth, while exploring ways governments and leaders can anticipate future challenges and develop practical solutions.

The program included both online and face-to-face learning sessions in Kigali.

During the study visit, Rukundo Joshua and other participants also examined Rwanda’s approach to sports business and visited Amahoro Stadium. They also visited Irenga to learn about efforts to promote information and communication technology among young people.

Rukundo also participated in Umuganda, Rwanda’s community service program where citizens come together to clean and improve their communities.

The experience gave him an opportunity to observe Rwanda’s approach to community participation and civic responsibility.

The completion of the program adds to his leadership and governance experience as he serves the people of Kanungu district.
