Hon. Rukundo Joshua, deputy chairperson of Kanungu District’s LC5 council, is in Kigali this week for the Africa Mindset Reset Forum, a two-day gathering at the Kigali Convention Centre that has drawn some of the continent’s most prominent political and business figures.
The forum, held Tuesday and Wednesday, is organized by the African School of Governance, which was co-founded by Rwandan President Paul Kagame and former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.
Also in attendance are Ghana’s Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, former South African President Thabo Mbeki, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and Sidi Ould Tah, president of the African Development Bank, among other heads of state, business executives and civil society figures.
The forum’s theme, “From Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism,” centers on a shift organizers describe as moving past political solidarity toward stronger institutions, governance and follow-through on development plans.
Sessions cover regional integration, management of Africa’s natural resources, job creation and what organizers call a culture of execution.
Rukundo’s attendance puts Kanungu District in the room for a conversation drawing leaders from across Africa on governance and youth leadership.
