Centenary Bank has partnered with the Good Forest Foundation to plant 100,000 trees in Kanungu District as part of an environmental conservation project involving Nyamwegabira Parish under Kabale Diocese.

The project was officially launched today, Wednesday at Nyamwegabira Parish, where church leaders, community members and other stakeholders gathered for the launch ceremony.

The trees will be planted on land provided by Nyamwegabira Parish, with part of the project also extending to Kambuga.

Centenary Bank will provide funding for the project, which will cover more than 30 acres, according to Benon Nsiimenta,  Kihihi branch manager.

Nsiimenta said the project will also include fruit trees, including Hass avocados, which will be planted on more than 15 acres.

The initiative is intended to promote environmental conservation while providing communities with trees that can offer economic benefits in the future.

The Good Forest Foundation will manage and maintain the trees for the first three years. After that period, the trees will be handed over to Nyamwegabira Parish for continued management.

The launch was attended by Kabale Diocese Vicar General Dr. John Vianney Sunday, who joined other stakeholders in marking the start of the tree-planting initiative.
