The Prime Minister of Tooro (Omuhikirwa) Calvin Armstrong has responded to concerns raised by Prince Charles Kamurasi, Omusuuga wa Tooro, regarding the communication of information surrounding His Majesty Rukirabasaija’s medical journey and the kingdom Heir concerns calling upon the people of Tooro to remain united and focused on honouring their King.
In his message, the Prime Minister clarified that some matters were not communicated to Prince Charles Kamurasi, Omusuuga wa Tooro, and that he too, as Omuhikirwa, was not informed about certain issues. He dismissed suggestions that he intentionally withheld information that deserved to be known.
“It is unfair to assume that I intentionally hid information that he deserved to know,” the Prime Minister stated, emphasizing that this period should not be defined by disagreements but by the responsibility to mourn and honour their King.
He noted that there will be an appropriate time after the farewell ceremonies to reflect on matters that require clarification, but stressed that such discussions should not distract from the immediate responsibility of giving Rukirabasaija a farewell filled with honour, dignity, humility, and love.
“His Majesty the King is the most important matter at this moment,” he said.
The Prime Minister appealed to Kingdom leaders, clan heads, government officials, journalists, and social media users to exercise responsibility, warning that statements made during a time of grief can create and deepen divisions among the people of Tooro.
He urged Batooro to use words and actions that promote peace, unity, and reconciliation, reminding everyone that protecting the dignity and legacy of Rukirabasaija remains their shared responsibility.
“This is what His Majesty the King would have wanted us to do. This is what Tooro expects from us,” He emphasized
