A new online marketplace, UnityShop, has been launched to connect buyers and sellers across Western Uganda, offering businesses and individuals an opportunity to establish online shops and reach potential customers within the region.
Available at www.unityshop.ug, the platform is designed to make buying and selling in western region more accessible by bringing businesses and customers together in one digital space.
Through UnityShop, users can create their own online shops, add products and showcase their goods to potential buyers. This gives local traders, entrepreneurs and other sellers an opportunity to establish an online presence without necessarily having to build a standalone website for their businesses.
The platform also provides buyers with a place to discover products offered by different sellers, making it easier to explore available goods and connect with businesses across the region.
Akankwasa Sharifu, CEO and lead developer of UnityShop, said the platform was developed to help local businesses take advantage of digital opportunities.
“We created UnityShop to bring buyers and sellers closer together by making it easier for people to discover products and businesses within Western Uganda. We want to give entrepreneurs and ordinary individuals the opportunity to create their own online shops, showcase what they sell and reach customers beyond their immediate communities. Our goal is to make digital commerce more accessible and help local businesses grow through technology,” Sharifu said.
He said the platform’s ambition is to create a digital marketplace where sellers can promote their products while buyers can discover goods and connect with the people offering them.
UnityShop’s launch comes at a time when digital platforms are creating new opportunities for businesses to reach customers beyond traditional markets. By focusing on Western Uganda, the platform seeks to strengthen connections between local sellers and buyers while encouraging more people to embrace online commerce.
